City & Guilds Qualifications at SITCA
Established in 1878 as “City and Guilds of London Institute”, C&G is a not for profit international organization whose mission is to provide qualifications and certifications directly linked to workplace skills, as compared to pure academic degrees which certify knowledge but not neccesarily competence on the job. This approach is used for 22 occupational sectors and 120 countries worldwide, earning the organization worldwide recognition as a developer of qualified workers. C&G awards over a million certificates every year in over 500 different vocational trades. Pictured at right are SITCA director Roongfa Sringam and City & Guilds visiting verifier Chef Jan Hollister. Professional chefs with years of experience may feel they don’t need this qualification, while beginning culinary students will certainly find it worth pursuing. Due to SITCA's low student to teacher ratio, everyone can progress at their own pace, so student diversity has little impact on the quality of the experience for even the most advanced participants. Successful candidates who earn the C&G qualification at SITCA will be certified for skills proficiency in Basic Food Preparation in the context of learning how to prepare over 100 Thai dishes during the intensive hands-on training provided in monthly sessions. Participants seeking City & Guilds qualification who are at a beginning level in their culinary training, should prepare themselves if possible, with the following skills.
The C&G certificate and credits earned are internationally recognised and transferable in more than 100 countries worldwide. To learn more about City & Guilds’ visit www.city-and-guilds.co.uk.
